Review: Sought by Evangeline Anderson

Sought (Bride of Kindred #3)
by Evangeline Anderson
Sci Fi Romance

You know what I have discovered? These heroines are a crazy bunch, I mean you have GOT to be! If you have two guys wanting to share you, both of them extremely hot, extremely hung and extremely hung up on you, would you run off? No! If that were me I would be sticking to them like glue, you wouldn't be able to pry me off with out an industrial sized prying thingy! I don't think some of these heroines deserve such amazing guys, so I really think for Ms Anderson's next book, I should be the next heroine!

So now that I have finally got that off my (heaving) bosom I can now talk more sense about this book. It starts pretty much where it left off in Hunted with Kat in serious trouble with only the Twin Kindred Locks Hard and Stabs Deep able to save her. But much to Kat's horror they discover the only way to save her life is to bond fully with her, something that Kat is reluctant to do. After sharing thoughts with them she knows that Deep hates her and she can't bear to spend the rest of her life mated with someone who seems to resent her. Little does she know that Deep could never hate Kat and he in fact loves her as much as his brother Lock. If only he could stop hating himself, he believes he has already caused the death of one bride and he is determined never to harm Kat.

As you can guess from mini rant at the top there, I really liked Locks Hard and Stabs Deep, like the other Kindred they make fantastic mates, and in the case of Twin Kindreds it is bargain two for the price of one! I found myself really falling for Deep the moody twin, he really was a tortured hero and I found myself waxing from wanting to hug him, wanting to boink his brains out and from wanting to bash his brains out for not just talking to Kat directly about things! Although I did find myself crossing my legs a little at the way they have sex, I am ashamed to say I had a historical romance heroine moment of "How will it all fit!?" but then I put on my big girl panties (or took them off in this case) and decided it would be worth a go!

As for Lock the other half of the Twin Kindred, what a sweetheart! As the light twin he is natually more lighthearted and laid back and very lovable. Put Lock and Deep together and like I said JUST TRY AND GET ME OFF THEM!

What I also loved about this book was the story line involving Xairn the son of the All Father. I seriously cannot wait to read his book, Ms Anderson has done a fabulous job of setting it up and developing his character over the last three books and I cannot wait for him to finally find some happiness.

I really enjoy this series, it is hot, funny and I enjoy reading them immensly, I keep hoping now for an alien abduction (mean evil aliens need not apply!) so I can find a Kindred of my own! Twin Kindred please!

Girls Guide to the Kindred:

Twin Kindred aka Menage a HOT Aliens-Muscular and rugged, these warriors from Twin Moons always come in pairs and cannot be separated. They experience physical pain when parted from each other...or the one woman they both choose to love. (MY FAVOURITE!!)

Review: Seduce Me in Dreams by Jacquelyn Frank

Seduce Me in Dreams
by Jacquelyn Frank
(A Three Worlds Novel # 1)
Sci-Fi Romance

I have always wanted to read a book by Jacquelyn Frank. I think a lot of that has to do with the sexy covers. So when I found this on audio recently I decided to give it a try. I actually had NO clue what the story was about going into it so I was a bit surprised to find it had a bit of a sci-fi romance theme.

I do think in general those are hard books to write without getting a little cheesy, but I think Ms. Frank managed to write an interesting enough story. Of course we have an interplanetary military force of sorts, and one of the best teams is led by Bronse Chapel. He's your typical military guy. He lives, breathes and sleeps his job. He's good at what he does, but usually not much else. He is a bit lacking in the communication and interrelations department, and he only manages to have a good rapport with his team members. He tried the marriage thing, didn't work. But now, someone inside his own organization wants to kill him. He doesn't even know what he did, what he knows or why they want to eliminate him.

There's someone out there that senses his dilemma though, and she needs his help to escape herself. She is Ravenna, a member of the Chosen Ones, which we slowly learn about throughout the book but will become very important I think in later books. They are powerful beings. Each one has a different power. Her power is visions, to be able to see the future. She was captured along with her brother. And she knows Bronse is destined to come rescue her.

She first comes to Bronse in his dreams. Beautiful, ethereal, at first he thinks he's going crazy. But she leads him to her. They are immediately enamored of each other, even though they have to hide it so others don't suspect that he knew who she was before the rescue. His job, and his teams', is to protect the Chosen ones they've managed to rescue and to unmask and defeat whoever is trying to kill Bronse.

The pace of this book was a little slow for my taste, and it definetely had a certain something missing (spark?) that I can't put my finger on. The world building was really good, I do want to read more about where it will go from now on.

I also think it's worth mentioning that this book changes perspectives throughout the book with some of the team members. So at times you might yourself in the head of the first in command, or the pilot, etc. At times it was interesting, at times it felt a bit out of place and non-related.

And onto the side characters, I'm intrigued to read more about all the Chosen ones. A lot of them are still young, so it might seem wrong, but I actually thought it was really cute to see Ravenna's younger sister crushing for Masin, Bronse's first in command.

To sum it up, I did find it interesting, it had some hot scenes, I liked the hero, the heroine was ok, and the world is interesting enough for me to continue on reading!

Review: Hunted by Evangeline Anderson

Hunted (Brides of Kindred #2)
By Evangeline Anderson
Erotic Romance

Sophia Waterhouse has always been afraid of needles and vampires so there's no way she wants anything to do with a modern day Count Dracula-even if he does come wrapped in the package of a huge Kindred warrior with blond hair and ice blue eyes. She's only on the Kindred Mothership to participate in her sister Liv's wedding and that's all.

Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred who has made a sacred vow never to call a bride. After a devastating rejection on his home planet, his heart is a block of ice no one can melt-or so he thinks until he meets Sophia.

When their ship is forced down in the middle of a rugged mountain range Sophia and Sylvan are stranded. Running for their lives they have only each other to depend on. Will they give in to the intense attraction between them or will the evil hunting Sophia take its toll?
From Goodreads

Another book in the Brides of Kindred series and another hot alien. Seriously these guys are prefect, where can I find one, these men can probe me as much as they want! And Sylfan surprised me, he is a Blood Kindred (Space Vampire!) and I didn’t think I would like him as much as Baird as I am not a vamp girl most the time. BUT Sylfan was amazing; maybe it is a case of double the fangs, double the pleasure? Not only was he hot in a way that’s lethal to anyone with a weak heart, but he was also sweet and hung five legged horse if you catch my drift *waggles eyebrows*
Sophia was also good, I didn’t really like Liv from Claimed but I did like Sophia, although she resisted Sylfan as well her reasons were so heart breaking that I was completely on her side. But they did make a fabulous couple when they got together. Although I am beginning to notice a pattern of them only realizing when the other one is about to die! Hopefully the next book will shake that up a little.

And, thinking of the next book, it is Kat and Locks Hard and Stabs Deep story! I cannot wait to read it! I love the idea of Twin Kindred and they have been my favourite since I first read about them in Claimed even though we hadn’t met any! And the chemistry between Lock, Deep and Kat has already been set up fantastically. I really can’t wait to read, I know I am repeating myself but my review my rules LOL!

Another character I would love to see get a book is Xairn, what an interesting fella! He is part of the Scrouge but different as he still has some compassion left in him. There was a really sad and horrible moment for him in this book as well which I won’t spoil, but it has left me with a massive soft spot for him.

As with the other books this one was hot as hell, these Kindred really know how to work it; these books should come with a clean pair of knickers or at least a warning!

Review: Claimed by Evangeline Anderson

Claimed (Brides of Kindred #1)
by Evangeline Anderson
Erotic Romance

Is there anything more perfect than a super sexy alien, or as they call themselves Kindred? I don’t think there is. They cook, they clean, they love to give you massages, they make you come until you pass out, really what more could a girl possibly want?! Unfortunately Olivia doesn’t quite see it like that, after being chosen as one of the Kindred males bond mate she does everything in her power to resist him, she misses her twin sister, her best friend and the job she loves, being with Baird the Beast Kindred she has bonded with will mean leaving it all behind.

This is the first book in the Kindred series and I really liked the idea. Earth had been attacked by bad aliens called the Scrouge, but just in the nick of time the Kindred, the good aliens, turn up to save the day! In exchange they want to do a genetic trade, whenever a Kindred alien calls a bride from the millions of women on Earth, Earth has to send her to the Kindred. Kind of like being called for Jury service, only with more sex and it is forever!

So loved the idea and it has such a great potential for books with some hot aliens and their Earthling brides in it. However, what stopped me loving the book was Liv, I really didn't like her. I understood why she resisted Baird, and it wouldn't have been much of a book if she hadn't! But what annoyed me is that she never gave him a chance even when she knew how much he loved her and when she suspected she might love him in return. Now, don't get me wrong she wasn't TSTL, just bloody irritating!

However, Baird! My sweet yet animalistically sexy Baird! He was so perfect it me feel a little ill! Not only was he so hot he makes your eyes burn, but he was also sweet, patient, cock the size of baseball bat and head over heels in love with Liv. Baird ALONE has earnt this book 2 stars! But I think because it always seemed really one sided I never really saw the connection with both of them, even towards the end it never really came together for me.

But there were other things I really liked about this book, it showed the potential between Liv's twin Sophia and Baird's brother Sylvan (a Blood Kindred aka Space Vampire) and I really can't wait to read their book! So much so that I actually bought it half way through this one! Kat, the twins friend was also really good and I am hoping that she will get a book as well.

Although Liv pissed me off, I did like this book alot, it had humour (killer blue teddy bears called Bebo!) and an interetsing world with the potential for more. And did I mention the sex? It was HOT! I love how EA writes her steamy scenes, Baird had a filthy mouth in more ways then one! NOT one to be reading at work!

Favourite Quote

"Nothing's wrong." Olivia's cheeks were as red as her robe. "It's just..you're so big. I mean, can you acually use that thing without being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon?"

Review: Blaze of Memory by Nalini Singh

Blaze of Memory
by Nalini Singh
(Psy-Changeling # 7)
Paranormal Romance

Dev Santos discovers her unconscious and battered, with no memory of who she is. All she knows is that she's dangerous. Charged with protecting his people's most vulnerable secrets, Dev is duty-bound to eliminate all threats. It's a task he's never hesitated to complete...until he finds himself draws to a woman who might prove to be the enemy's most insidious weapon yet.

Stripped of her memories by a shadowy oppressor and programmed to carry out cold-blooded murder, Katya Haas is fighting desperately for her sanity. Her only hope is Dev. But how can she expect to gain the trust of a man who could very well be her next target? For in this game, one must die..

We are doing group reviews of the Psy Changeling series as we are all such huge fans of this series, but for this book, we were split in the middle! Annie loved it but Fran and Suzanne...not so much! So instead of integrating our reviews, here are our individual opinions about a couple of aspects of the books:

DEV & KATYA

Suzanne- This was the thing I disliked most about this book! At first it was because they hadn’t had much of a build up in the other books, especially Katya, so I don’t have that sense of knowing them a little before the book starts, but that’s okay, I can learn to love them, but even by the end of the book they still felt like secondary characters! And Dev, I didn’t like him. At all. He reminds me of a 80’s historical romance hero, you know the horrible ones I mean, controlling and aggressive, he would blow hot and cold, one minute being tender and gentle, the next thinking about killing her and threatening her! As for Katya, complete Stolkholm Syndrome heroine, he held her captive and kept intimidating and bullying her, how the hell do you fall in love!?

Fran- I actually liked Dev before this book, I thought he was an interesting character when I first read about him in Talin & Clay's book, and was actually looking forward to his story. But now that we get to read more about him, he fell flat. I think maybe he needed a different mate. I think a changeling female might've been better suited for him and we might've seen a different Dev. As for Katya...I have no comment for Katya. LOL She was just there! I felt bad for her and all, but there was no connection.

Annie- I freaking love Dev! As the Shine director, although we have no Changeling alpha males, he’s kind of like the alpha of his own people. I found myself loving him despite his initial icy persona. He also has a really cool gift with metal and it would have been great to him use it a little more. As for Katya after five pages I found myself really sympathising with her (Love the new name it suits her so much better, don’t you think? It’s less Psy and more personable). As a Psy she is physically weak and after what that bastard Ming did to her she is mentally caged but I found a quiet strength in her. She’s definitely my favourite of the Psy women! I adore her! In several parts of this book she shows some real courage, and I loved her for it and wanted to beat her for putting herself in so much danger!

CONCLUSION: I think we are going to have to agree to disagree! We will let you have Dev for your harem Annie LOL!

SILENCE:

Suzanne & Fran- I liked the progression of the breakdown of Silence. This book demonstrates perhaps more than the others that although Silence is in no way a good thing breaking Silence WILL have deadly consequences for a lot of people, Psy, human and Changeling. This book also gives you an understanding of perhaps why Silence was implemented in the first place. I love books when nothing is black and white and good and bad, and Nalini Singh has muddied up the waters a little, I found that although I don’t agree with Silence, I can see how it is useful and why it was used in the first place.

Annie- I totally agree! This book was great at showing Silence and when breaking Silence goes really bad. I like that the Forgotten were also considering trying to use Silence, this shows that maybe the Psy did have a good reason to start using it, even if it got corrupted later. But I am glad they finally decided against it!

LETTERS TO MATTHEW

All of us
- I think we all agreed that the letters were really beautiful and a great way of demonstrating that piece of time from when Silence was first brought to the attention of the Psy to when it was finally implemented. It gave you a very human look at what Silence meant to the Psy and it gave you information in little tantalizing pieces rather than just having one big monologue to read. For Fran and Suzanne these were some of the best bits of the book and Annie thinks they enhanced an already fabulous read.

We are all definitely going to be carrying on reading the rest of this amazing series, although a couple of us didn’t really like this one as much as the rest in this series, it will not stop us reading on to find out what happens next!

Review: Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh

Branded by Fire (Psy Changeling #6)
by Nalini Singh
Paranormal Romance

Fragile: Handle With Care. This book is so smokin’ hot it’s guaranteed to leave you with scorched knickers and the irresistible urge to bite...HARD!

This book is our favourite in this series. It just has it all. But the main two reasons? Riley and Mercy. Seriously! To start with... Riley is just perfect. Not only is he so hot that people have been known to spontaneously orgasm when they hear his name *cough Suzanne cough* He's also had a rough past, dealing with the death of both his parents, protecting the pack when he was nothing but a child and then the abduction, torture and almost death of his sister Brenna (from Caressed by Ice). He is always in control; always focused; always thinking. But when he puts all that focus, control and thoughts on one woman, she doesn't stand a chance. He is one extremely hot, very dominant and incredibly amazing wolf RAWR. You can't help but want to have a tumble in the forest with him... or in the shower... or against the door... no need for a bed really. They are completely overrated.

But let’s not leave Mercy behind! She is a dominant leopard female and because of this she struggles to find an equally dominant male who her leopard will respect. She has a take no shit attitude it is extremely loyal to her pack and her alpha, very much like Riley, but this was paired by a compassionate and playful nature. By the end of the book, I was a little in love with her!

The power play between these two caused a lot of tension, both emotional and sexual creating a really intense romance, which as they have such strong personalities, they have to work damn hard to make the relationship work. The tension also makes this book one of the hottest in the series, right from the first chapter, there is lots of biting and clawing going on, who knew being mauled could be so much fun?

We are also introduced to a couple of new characters, Eduardo and Joaquin they were definitely good alpha male material, and as the series seems to be running out of hot alpha felines, we could use a few more! And speaking of hot felines...what about Mercy's brothers? How about giving them some books!?! Bastian, Grey and Sage have some potential! Maybe Bastian could be the next DarkRiver book, huh?

And Sascha and Lucas *wells up* can I just say how happy I am about them!? That is another great thing about this series, you get to see the characters after their HEA. And we love the presence of kids, what kind of pack would it be without adorable little cubs and pups? Whether they are human, changeling or Psy, we love them all! The moments with Sakura and Riley, then Ben and Hawke? Too adorable who can resist a man who loves kids? Then there’s also Toby, whom we think can really be a major player in the rest of the series.

Speaking of children, it seems that Sienna has finally grown up and THANK YOU SINGH for this change! Bring on the Hawke/Sienna action!

And let’s not leave aside the storyline progression, action and drama in this book. The Psy are going crazy and the conflict is escalating as Silence starts to fragment. The Alliance is striking against Changelings and the Psy and in general causing a lot of trouble. And who could be the Ghost? We all have our ideas and can’t wait to find out!

Review: Hostage to Pleasure by Nalini Singh

Hostage to Pleasure (Psy-Changeling #5)
by Nalini Singh
Paranormal Romance

Hostage to Pleasure is the fifth book in the Psy-Changeling series and Dorian has been one of our favourite DarkRiver sentinels from the very start! Dorian is intense yet charming with just a pinch of angst, the perfect ingredients for a hot alpha hero.

Dorian is latent, which means he can’t shift and although many see it as a disadvantage, it doesn’t let that hinder his determination and protectiveness over Pack. Any disadvantage he may have he compensates for with his mad sharp shooting abilities and his even sharper mind. He is so charming in Mine to Possess so we were expecting the same in this book; however we see a darker side of Dorian. He was very angry and tense for most of his book. The reason is understandable since his lost his baby sister, Kylie to one of the Psy. But we couldn’t help wishing he would use some of his dazzling charm a little more on Ashaya Aleine.

Ashaya, she was in the previous book as the scientist who helped the rescue for Jon and Noor to prevent them from being experimented on by a psychopath. But now she wants to collect her IOU from the DarkRiver pack when she asks them to save her son Keenan. Ashaya was different from the other Psy in this series so far in the fact that she had already broken Silence when we met her, but still uses it as a shield to protect herself from the Council. We liked this about this book, we already have three books in the series about different Psy learning to crack Silence but Nalini Singh has found a new way of presenting a Psy character to keep it original and fresh. Another reason for liking Ashaya was Keenan, they connection between them was lovely and she had some great motherly moments with her son, Keenan! They were so sweet! Keenan saying he wanted to marry Noor was adorable!

The romance between the two, although not as hot as some (I personally think that so far Visions of Heat has been the most erotic book) Ashaya and Dorian still had plenty of chemistry and I loved seeing the push and pull between them, neither of them ever dreamed they would want to be mated to each other. Dorian because she is a Psy and he’s still enraged at the Psy for his little sister’s death, and Ashaya because she has many secrets she thought she would never have to reveal.

This book also carries on the Psy-Changeling cold war, and it has now escalated slightly as the Psy face more civil unrest and a new element, the Human Alliance is introduced. This series is not only great fo r the romance but for the plot as well, we all want to know if Silence will ever to be lifted and the consequences if it is.

Mercy’s book is next! This will be the first Changeling on Changeline romance and we cannot wait to read it! Is it bad to say that we’re happy that the main characters are not Psy? The DarkRiver and SnowDancer packs are much more interesting!

We also just wanted to say that we love how Singh incorporates interracial couplings in her books! She is one of the authors who doesn’t see race as a boundary and uses it enhance her books is an amazing way! Nalini Singh, you have officially become one of Under the Covers favourite authors!

Favourite Quotes

Psy
...to love is to be flawed. And the Psy do not allow the flawed to live.
Ashaya
A kiss is a melding of mouths. I've considered every aspect of this form of affection since the last perplexing dream but I still don't see the point of it.
Dorian
"You're prone to mood swings."
Mood swings? He stopped halfway down the steps "Women have mood swings. Not men." It was a growl.

Review: Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh

Mine to Possess (Psy Changeling #4)
by Nalini Singh
Paranormal/Sci Fi Romance

It is finally the dark and mysterious Clay's turn to get his life turned upside down by the arrival of his mate. But unlike the others he has known who is mate was since he was 9 years old, only he was told she was dead. But he was lied to. In a childhood full of horror, Clay was the one shinning light in her life, but when he got taken away from her she had to cope on her own so she made him think she was dead. But now she needs his help, the street kids who she helps are going missing and turning up dead and mutilated and she needs his help to catch whoever is torturing the poor children.

First off, Talin is our FAVOURITE HEROINE IN THE SERIES! We absolutely adore her! She’s the first human, but she has as much bite as the other Psy girls and Brenna. Her past is a dark one and it has haunted her to this day. We all teared up as we read some of the things that happened to her. What we really liked was how possessive she got of Clay! Normally it is the other way round but we loved to see Tally get her proverbial claws out!

And Clay, none of us were that sure of his from the other books; he was an asshole to both Faith and to Sascha in the previous books, and really how many times are we going to read about a dark and brooding hero with a mysterious past? But this is Nalini Singh we should have known that by 2% into the book we would already be in love with him! Dark and broody he may be, but he is also funny and protective. We love the side that Tally brought out in him and we loved it when they played. We practically melted when the big bad pussy cat was so light hearted with Tally. These two made a fabulous couple and they both really deserved their Happily Ever After.

The introduction of Max Shannon was great and we're really looking forward to reading more about his character! Also, we can already tell that something is going to happen with Aleine and Dorian, are we right? We already approve of her. The fact that she gave up Jon and Noor shows that she’s got a heart. But WHY DO THEY ALWAYS HAVE TO GO FOR THE CHILDREN!? That infuriates us like nothing else! This book also shows you more about the Psy and how they are slowly fracturing from the inside because of the Silence protocol. This books gives HUGES hints about who The Ghost is! And we can't wait to find out if those hints are true or just a big tease.

The next book is Dorian's, will his leopard come out to play? We will find out soon!

Favourite Quotes

"What happened to you, Tally?"
The laughter seeped out the air. "I broke."
~~~
He seldom exploded in open fury, but man, could he brood.
~~~
"Your purr?" His smile was pure cat. "Only for you."
~~~
"You're so big." He would fill her up, take her over.
"Remember that," he groaned. "And tell everyone you know."
~~~
"I have a temper, baby, and I know I fucking brood. But even if I act pissed, even if I snarl, it doesn't mean I love you any less. Yor sould shines, Tally, and I'm so damn glad it shines for me."

Review: Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh

Caressed by Ice (Psy Changeling #3)
by Nalini Singh
Paranormal/Sci f Romance

Is it me or does Nalini Singh's books just keep getting better and better! "Caressed by Ice" features Judd "The Ice Man" Lauren, who is a Psy that now lives with the SnowDancer Pack to protect his brother and his nieces and nephew who were going to put in for "rehabilitation" which is tantamount to death, and Brenna Kincaid, the Changeling female that was saved in the first book, but had been badly tortured and mind raped by Enrique Santiago, a Psy and member of the Council, until of course the SnowDancers and DarkRiver packs found out and tore him apart.
Who knew the Man of Ice could be so HOT?!
Before we started reading this book, Brenna and Judd seemed like an odd couple, but we were soooo wrong, they fitted together perfectly. Judd is a trained solider, a Psy with no emotions. But he didn’t feel as detached as Faith and Sascha when we first met them in their books. It might be the fact that he was there when Brenna was broken and needed her Pack the most. So we saw there was already some sort of emotion or feeling there despite his icy persona. Brenna, on the other hand, operates on feelings. She is driven by her emotions and gets frustrated when she doesn’t get what she wants. She is the fire, and Judd is ice. Together, they make an incredible couple! Their love story blossomed beautifully as Judd realizes he can't live without her and he must do something that he had never considered possible before, break Silence. Brenna was also great, I loved watching her break though Judd's walls and get to the man inside.

In this book, we also get a larger glimpse of the SnowDancer pack. One of the best things about this series is the Pack mentality. But betrayals do happen within the Pack. Dieter is a perfect example! I love that Singh incorporated his POV. This fact alone made me flip these pages one after the other until I found out who the bastard was! Riley & Drew, Brenna’s brothers, also show the flip side, and how close families are in teh Pack and how they help heal each other.

This book also continues the battle between the Psy and the Changelings and brings in a few new players like the Ghost, who has been working from within the Psy net to stop Protocol 1, which would turn the Psy into a hive mind controlled by the Council. I can't wait to see this story develop as well as see the next romance. The world the Nalini Singh is building is complex and each book seems to add a new layer.

Another great instalment in the series, full of romance, and action I can't wait to get my hands on the next one.

Favourite Quote:

“I take it back!” she cried. “Foreplay sucks!”

Review: Collision Course by Zoe Archer

Collision Couse (8th Wing #1)
by Zoe Archer
Sci fi Romance

Mara Skiren is a Scavenger, a smuggler and criminal, but the doesn't stop the 8th Wing from blackmailing her into helping them save one of their pilots and a high tech fighter ship that has been taken from them. Used to flying solo Mara doesn't like having the arrogan Commander Kell Frayne, on her ship, the Arcadia is her home and she rarely allows anyone inside. But Kell quickly gets under her skin and she finds her self reluctantly falling for him.

I don't know if I have just overloaded on sci-fi romance or if this just wasn't my cup of tea, but I didn't like it that much. The universe was just text book sci-fi with nothing to really distinguish it from countless others and I found it irritating the way random new words, obviously relating to something sci-fiey, were just thorwn in without any kind of explanation. In the end I found that bit boring but bearable.

But, what really bugged me was the romance. It was so over wrought! Having read some Zoe Archer before I was a little prepared for this, but after reading it I need to shower to get all the damn sap off! Every look was soul-wrending, every sigh was deep and meaningful, you couldn't damn well blink with out it having some kind of deep meaning and having, yet another, wall collapse around someones either heart or soul, how many walls/barriers can one possible have?! In the end I just got exasparated with it all and speed read it to get to the end.

I am trying not to be too negative, but when you are reading a book but wishing that the world destroying bad guys win you know that something isn't quite right!

Review: Rejar by Dara Joy

Rejar (Matrix of Destiny #2)
by Dara Joy
Sci Fi Romance

After really enjoying Knight of a Trillion Stars I decided to go straight on to this book about Lorgin's younger brother Rejar. It started pretty much where the other book left off and after stepping into the vortex-thing Rejar lands in a carriage in cat form in regency England. He also finds himself in the carriage with Lilac who he is straight away intrigued by, and so he starts hunting his sensual prey as only a Familiar can!

I wanted to like this book sooooooo much, and I did kind of, but the one thing I cannot stand in a book is an annoying heroine. And Lilac really irritated me. I don't know why, I understood why she was so resistant to Rejar and to be fair there was less whining as much as alot of her being angry. But it got on my nerves ALOT.

Also I don't really feel the chemistry between them, and when they finally declared their love I wasn't convinced. I think the problem was that there wasn't enough about them as a couple, there was plenty about them having amazing sex, but apart from that I didn'treally see a connection.

But this book did have some fun bits and although I had many eye rolling moments I did enjoy it.

Review: Knight of a Trillion Stars by Dara Joy

Knight of a Trillion Stars (Matrix of Destiny #1)
by Dara Joy
Sci Fi Romance

I don't know what attracted me to this book, maybe the really corny cover? The clever pun in the title? But for some reason I really really wanted to read it and I am so glad that I caved when I saw it was only £2.00 at the Kindle shop. Three words best describe this book:
HIGHLANDERS IN SPACE

That's right alien Highlander, that is what the hero reminded me! He was possesive, domineering and arrogant, yet utterly charming. In real life I would brain him- once I had been thoroughly ravished by him ofcourse- but in the book I really liked him, so much so that he and his insatiable alien love stick (or rather trunk!) has earned its way into my harem.

The book did have a bit of a plot going on which I mostly ignored as what I really liked about this book was the two main characters Deanna and Lorgan. Deanna was a great heroine, she had been thrown from our world to a completely new galaxy with Lorgan, but being a hardy sci fi fan takes it on the chin and keeps on going. I also loved that she stuck up for herself and didn't let Lorgan steamroll over her, or atleast did her best to stop him, although she was often overcome by his masculine potency (yes that is almost a direct quote from the book!) this lead to some funny exchanges between the two of them and this is definately a book you don't read in public it had me laughing out loud several times!

So I really enjoyed this book, it was corny, it was over the top, it had sexy aliens in it and an alien yoda-like character. What more could I ask?!
