Review: Changing the Game by Jaci Burton

Changing the Game
by Jaci Burton
(Play by Play # 2)
Erotica

WOW! I devoured this book! It must've been all the excitement and anticipation, or maybe just the fact that for the first 50% - 60% the chemistry and raw sensuality between Liz and Gavin was just amazing! Of course, there's the sinful cover to consider too, which I kept picturing every time I read about Gavin.

I definetely shouldn't have started the book in the morning BEFORE going to work and then reading DURING LUNCH. You do not want to have your co-workers wondering why you're biting your lip and making weird noises. But Gavin just had me in a bad state all day.

I *think* Gavin is my favorite Riley brother. He is just amazing, as I said before... He.Is.A.GOD!!! Oh so talented, creative, daring.... *sigh* There was nothing I wanted more than to have his attentions and to be his goddess! He truly made Liz feel special from the beginning. I liked that! I didn't think for one second that he ever treated her as a one-night stand, or a fling.

Now, that being said, he was a little immature about some things throughout the story, but he's entitled, he's only 29!

I came to understand some of where Elizabeth came from, however, I don't think that part of the story was developed much, there was only one conversation where she truly opened up and the way it was built up before I thought it would be a little more dramatic. However, she has had a rough life, she's amazing for having come so far and being so successful on her own. But she is also very insecure, and a lot of that shows up in this book. She has to protect herself before someone else has a chance of hurting her.

Talk about FIREWORKS between these two!!! Scorching hot!!! Favorite scenes that deserve to be mentioned and you'll just have to wait and read the book to get the details: the scene at the restaurant *THUD*, the scene on his porch overlooking the beach *DOUBLE THUD*, at his St. Louis house the first time he saw her after Florida *MELTING*

Now all that out of the way (and you should absolutely read this book for that alone!) I had the same problem with this book than I did with the first one. After a certain point after half way through I was a little bored.

Ms. Burton has managed to write the sweetest, most perfect guys for this series (along with THE HOTTEST covers), and sometimes when they are OH SO PERFECT and everything is roses it can be a bit tedious. Ha! I can't believe I just said that.

The honorable asshole mention in this book goes out to Mick Riley. I understand why he had a problem with Liz. Yes, what she did to him, Tara and Nathan was messed up. But what he did (and kept doing) to her was more hurtful.

And the cutie alert!!!!!!! OMG I was melting for Ty from the moment he first came on the story. I can tell his book will be a complete panty melter. Even if when he met Jenna he said she wasn't his type because he liked women with bigger boobs.

The ending was excellent! Gavin redeemed himself 100% and I think my heart skipped a beat along with Lizzie's.

Review: Dangerous Pleasure by Lora Leigh

Dangerous Pleasure
by Lora Leigh
(Bound Hearts # 12)
Erotica Romance

Who would've ever thought I'd be reviewing a Lora Leigh book and saying "What the hell happened??? Noooooo steam!!!!". But I am sad to say I was extremely disappointed with this book. After the last few books in this series have been really good, really steamy, with great plots, great characters and over the top excellent sex, I expected a really good read.

Instead we get this washed out story, with like 2 or 3 sex scenes TOTAL in the whole book, and that weren't even that steamy! First of all, I didn't like our heroine Paige. She is too immature, and being paired up with an older guy (I think he's 37?) I really thought she would be a little more grown up mentally. We've had much better heroines in this series, and she just can't compare.

Abram is the hot, brooding alpha male, who has been through a whole lot and doesn't want to form any more attachments. He has been the cause of the deaths of his previous wives, and to think that if he gives in to his weakness and takes Paige he would be endangering her, more than she already is, is unthinkable.

Paige is actually Khalid's half sister. Abram is Khalid's half brother. But no, Paige and Abram are not related! However, it does make for a messy situation, and Khalid, who I loved in his book Guilty Pleasure, was starting to piss me off with how he was handling their feelings for each other.

Is it really bad to say that the hottest sex of the whole book was the opening scene, when Abram and Tariq are actually having sex with a different woman? I just didn't feel the chemistry between the two.

The rest of the storyline was a bit boring in general. I miss the Club!!!!! Please, let's just go back to what works best! Ms. Leigh also introduces more members of the Mustafa extended family in this one, and I think they are hinted as possible future books (like maybe Chalah and Tariq) but I wasn't that interested in their characters either!

You know what I really want to see? I want to read Daniel's story! Now he seems intense! I think we need some fresh blood in the characters of this series!

As usual, I find inconsistencies in the story, and one that kept bugging me was the fact that at the beginning of the story (opening scene) Paige is about 21. It is then mentioned (as a passing thought) that Abram started noticing her as a woman when she turned 18. Then after the events that happened at 21 there's a "8 YEARS LATER", but instead of Paige being 29, she is 25. But what happened between them was when she was 21! It should've said 4 years later!

Anyway, I will still, of course, continue to read this series. I do have faith that this was just a little mishap and it will not be repeated!

Review: Wicked Ties by Shayla Black

Wicked Ties
by Shayla Black
(Wicked Lovers # 1)
Erotica Romance

Have you met Jack Cole yet? Heard about him at least? Well if you haven't you don't have any idea what you're missing out on. In fact, you should go buy this book right now because you HAVE to meet Jack! I may have a little crush on him.

Wicked Ties is the beginning of one of my favorite erotic series that has the perfect blend of romance, eroticism, amazing characters and suspense as well. Ms. Black will transport you to the swamps of Louisiana with these two, especially with the hot cajun Jack Cole.

Morgan O'Malley has a stalker. She needs protection and only bodyguard Jack Cole can offer it. And as they find themselves sharing a small house while hiding out, their attraction for each other becomes impossible to control.

But Jack doesn't want just a lover, he wants Morgan's submission, total and complete. He wants to be the one to see to her needs and to her pleasure, to have her complete trust. How can Morgan admit to him, or to herself, that she can do this? That she wants it, even needs it?

Jack brings out desires in her she didn't know where hidden, and will test her and bring her to heights she never even thought possible.

Jack's accent alone will have you melting at his feet! He doesn't make excuses for what he wants. He does have hidden intentions, and when he finally figures out he has true feelings for Morgan, nothing will keep him from her.

"If you were expecting Prince Charming, I'm sorry. He's with his boyfriend."

Review: Better Than 8: Fantasy by Erin Jamison

Better Than 8: Fantasy
by Erin Jamison
Erotica

What girl doesn't fantasize about a guy with a HUGE dick, 8 inches or more just for your pleasure? Well Amara certainly does, and at the advice of her girlfriends she signed up to a dating website that offered just that, cocks that are 8 inches or better! And yes maybe I did check to see if it was a real site LMAO! What she didn't expect was to strike up an online relationship with sexy and very well endowned Sevastian...

I love the idea for this book. I think if I were a guy I may be a little offended, but I figure that it is just payback for guys who only like women with tits the size of watermelons! We can all have our fantasies! And Seva, what a fantasy! Gorgeous, generous and gigantic, he hits all my G spots! Then throw Naldo into the mix another guy with the G factor and I think it has GOT to be every womans wet dream come true! Or is that just me?!

So this a great short and sexy read, light hearted and fun this left me with a huge (and dirty) smile on my face!

Review: Hunted by Evangeline Anderson

Hunted (Brides of Kindred #2)
By Evangeline Anderson
Erotic Romance

Sophia Waterhouse has always been afraid of needles and vampires so there's no way she wants anything to do with a modern day Count Dracula-even if he does come wrapped in the package of a huge Kindred warrior with blond hair and ice blue eyes. She's only on the Kindred Mothership to participate in her sister Liv's wedding and that's all.

Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred who has made a sacred vow never to call a bride. After a devastating rejection on his home planet, his heart is a block of ice no one can melt-or so he thinks until he meets Sophia.

When their ship is forced down in the middle of a rugged mountain range Sophia and Sylvan are stranded. Running for their lives they have only each other to depend on. Will they give in to the intense attraction between them or will the evil hunting Sophia take its toll?
From Goodreads

Another book in the Brides of Kindred series and another hot alien. Seriously these guys are prefect, where can I find one, these men can probe me as much as they want! And Sylfan surprised me, he is a Blood Kindred (Space Vampire!) and I didn’t think I would like him as much as Baird as I am not a vamp girl most the time. BUT Sylfan was amazing; maybe it is a case of double the fangs, double the pleasure? Not only was he hot in a way that’s lethal to anyone with a weak heart, but he was also sweet and hung five legged horse if you catch my drift *waggles eyebrows*
Sophia was also good, I didn’t really like Liv from Claimed but I did like Sophia, although she resisted Sylfan as well her reasons were so heart breaking that I was completely on her side. But they did make a fabulous couple when they got together. Although I am beginning to notice a pattern of them only realizing when the other one is about to die! Hopefully the next book will shake that up a little.

And, thinking of the next book, it is Kat and Locks Hard and Stabs Deep story! I cannot wait to read it! I love the idea of Twin Kindred and they have been my favourite since I first read about them in Claimed even though we hadn’t met any! And the chemistry between Lock, Deep and Kat has already been set up fantastically. I really can’t wait to read, I know I am repeating myself but my review my rules LOL!

Another character I would love to see get a book is Xairn, what an interesting fella! He is part of the Scrouge but different as he still has some compassion left in him. There was a really sad and horrible moment for him in this book as well which I won’t spoil, but it has left me with a massive soft spot for him.

As with the other books this one was hot as hell, these Kindred really know how to work it; these books should come with a clean pair of knickers or at least a warning!

Girls Guide to the Kindred:

Beast Kindred aka Fuckably Feral Aliens- Savage in battle these dark, brooding warriors from Rageron bring their passion and intensity to the bedroom. They possess a very special endowment that ensures every sexual experience is a tantric one.

Blood Kindred aka Space Vampire Aliens-Cold as ice to their enemies, these tall, blond warriors from Tranq Prime warm up when they find the right woman. But be careful...they bite.

Twin Kindred aka Menage a HOT Aliens-Muscular and rugged, these warriors from Twin Moons always come in pairs and cannot be separated. They experience physical pain when parted from each other...or the one woman they both choose to love. (MY FAVOURITE!!)

Review: Claimed by Evangeline Anderson

Claimed (Brides of Kindred #1)
by Evangeline Anderson
Erotic Romance

Is there anything more perfect than a super sexy alien, or as they call themselves Kindred? I don’t think there is. They cook, they clean, they love to give you massages, they make you come until you pass out, really what more could a girl possibly want?! Unfortunately Olivia doesn’t quite see it like that, after being chosen as one of the Kindred males bond mate she does everything in her power to resist him, she misses her twin sister, her best friend and the job she loves, being with Baird the Beast Kindred she has bonded with will mean leaving it all behind.

This is the first book in the Kindred series and I really liked the idea. Earth had been attacked by bad aliens called the Scrouge, but just in the nick of time the Kindred, the good aliens, turn up to save the day! In exchange they want to do a genetic trade, whenever a Kindred alien calls a bride from the millions of women on Earth, Earth has to send her to the Kindred. Kind of like being called for Jury service, only with more sex and it is forever!

So loved the idea and it has such a great potential for books with some hot aliens and their Earthling brides in it. However, what stopped me loving the book was Liv, I really didn't like her. I understood why she resisted Baird, and it wouldn't have been much of a book if she hadn't! But what annoyed me is that she never gave him a chance even when she knew how much he loved her and when she suspected she might love him in return. Now, don't get me wrong she wasn't TSTL, just bloody irritating!

However, Baird! My sweet yet animalistically sexy Baird! He was so perfect it me feel a little ill! Not only was he so hot he makes your eyes burn, but he was also sweet, patient, cock the size of baseball bat and head over heels in love with Liv. Baird ALONE has earnt this book 2 stars! But I think because it always seemed really one sided I never really saw the connection with both of them, even towards the end it never really came together for me.

But there were other things I really liked about this book, it showed the potential between Liv's twin Sophia and Baird's brother Sylvan (a Blood Kindred aka Space Vampire) and I really can't wait to read their book! So much so that I actually bought it half way through this one! Kat, the twins friend was also really good and I am hoping that she will get a book as well.

Although Liv pissed me off, I did like this book alot, it had humour (killer blue teddy bears called Bebo!) and an interetsing world with the potential for more. And did I mention the sex? It was HOT! I love how EA writes her steamy scenes, Baird had a filthy mouth in more ways then one! NOT one to be reading at work!

Favourite Quote

"Nothing's wrong." Olivia's cheeks were as red as her robe. "It's just..you're so big. I mean, can you acually use that thing without being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon?"

Review: Bad to the Bone by Karin Tabke

Bad to the Bone
by Karin Tabke
(Wicked Reads # 1)
Erotica Romance

I think I'm not the only when I say that a fantasy of a hot cop pulling you over and then having his wicked way with you sounds VERRA NICE! No? Is it just me?

Well, that's how this story starts out, which caught me a bit off guard and wondering if I should be liking it or thinking this guy was completely insane! Of course they were role playing, even though he is a real cop, he's been sort of, not dating but more of a booty call.

Olivia Connor was married to a cop, and he died a year ago. She started seeing Vander, a local police officer who has also known her husband, even though they weren't friends. Vander is the epitome of the bad boy, rides a motorcycle, doesn't "date" women, and he is oh so deliciously bad in the bedroom.

This short story is HOT from beginning to end! Characters are very likeable, and I was definitely liking Vander a whole lot! Can I take him home to play?

From Goodreads

This is my first Stacey Kennedy book! I have read reviews from friends and so was expecting a hot book, and I wasn't disappointed. This definitely isn't a book you can read on the bus with out squirming! Right from the very first page, this had me drooling and it just got better when Kellen was thrown in to the mix! Ms. Kennedy certainly knows how to keep things sexy!

The plot line involving them trying to find the missing girl wasn't as strong as I hoped it would be. I think part of this had to do with the length of the book. With a short novella, it did not get the chance to really develop the missing girl storyline and I was a little sad about this.  The urgency of the rescue wasn't there as they kept stopping for sex breaks (and let's face it who could blame her!?) but it was still an enjoyable read that got me all worked up!

Overall I did enjoy this book, it got my pulse racing and I will definitely be reading more Stacey Kennedy!

Review: Wild, Wet and Wicked... in Whispering Cove by Cathryn Fox, Nikki Duncan and Mackenzie McKade

Wild, Wet and Wicked in Whispering Cove
by Cathryn Fox, Nikki Duncan and Mackenzie McKade
Erotica Romance

This was an entertaining collection of short story eroticas. They did have more of a feel of contemporary romance, but I think it's the perfect summer light reading with a kick. All three stories are, in a way, about lovers reunited. Three old irish men set up to marry off their grandkids by playing on their guilt and bringing them all back to Whispering Cove, the small town they all fled like the plague ten years ago.

Wild
by MacKenzie McKade
3 Feathers

This was my least favorite story of the three. Andie was dating her high school sweetheart Brody but a tragic boat accident killed both her parents, and that ran her out of town and has traumatized her for all future relationships. Now, a lawyer in LA, she is forced to come back to Whispering Cove because her grandfather is ill. Except when she gets back to town she falls right back into his arms. And now he's the Sheriff. Sheriff Brody never understood why she left him, but he is determined to get her back, and get her to stay in Whispering Cove.

Her reasons for staying away, even though a bit of a stretch in mu opinion, were valid. And all of a sudden they EASILY disappeared. Too easy in my opinion. Were they hot? Yes. Did I like Brody? Yes. I didn't really care for Andie though!

Wet
by Cathryn Fox
3.5 Feathers

Katy did not want to stay stuck in Whispering Cove.....And being with Trent would've. He wanted to have a family with her, and stay in the small town. She needed to see the world. So she left ten years ago to become a chef, left her parents to run the town diner by themselves, and left the love of her life. Now as famous TV chef personality, she comes back because her grandfather says her parents business is struggling financially and they are too proud to ask for help. So, since her show is on hiatus, she goes back to help for the summer. And maybe, just maybe, get Trent back. She's not convinced city life is all that's cracked up to be and can see why she would be happy back in Whispering Cove with Trent. Trent now being a sexy firefighter, who won't survive losing her again, but just can't stay away from her.

The romance in this story was nice, the development of the events was entertaining, with just a bit of mystery. And these two were pretty hot together!

Wicked
by Nikki Duncan
3.5 Feathers

We see small glimpses of Dr. Dani through the other two stories, and now we get her story. She was the geeky girl, and had a crush on Braydon Mitchell. She used to spy on him from her house (yeah, stalker much). But Braydon left town 10 years ago, to basically live on his boat, travel around, and write about sports! He is not the settling down type of guy. But it's time for him to come back to town for their 10 year high school reunion. He is excited to see his friends! But his grandpa manages to bring Danica to the dock to welcome him with the excuse of his health, and Braydon is smitten at first look. Of course it takes him a little while to realize who she was, and to remember she used to kinda stalk him. And he now plans on having all of her while he's in town.

I almost want to say these two were the hottest ones in the book. She is not so shy anymore, especially after he gives her 3 or 4 orgasms in one afternoon alone. But she can't keep seeing him or her heart will never recover. What I didn't like about this is that there's too much 'I love you's and 'Marry me's after seeing each other for a few days.

Review: The One by Lora Leigh

The One
by Lora Leigh
Erotica Romance

It's kind of hard to give an accurate rating to such a short story! I think I finished this one in about an hour and a half. However, after that short period of time I might've needed a change of panties! LMAO

The story is set basically on a farm, Jase's family farm. His father had married Brenna's mother and basically raised Brenna as his own, even after her mother died. But Jase never really saw her as his little sister. He has wanted her since she turned eighteen, but always held himself back.

Now, after his father's death, she is forced to come back to the ranch for the summer as a clause on the will so she could turn over the ranch to Jase.

She has had feelings for him one way or another since she was 10. He's always been the one for her, and she waited for him to notice her. But she's been rejected by him one too many times and want to close that chapter in her life forever.

But as soon as she comes back to the ranch sparks fly immediately between them, and he can't deny any longer his hunger.

There is nothing else happening in this story. It is extremely short. So just look for it to give you a few heart palpitations.

Review: Pleasure Inn by Cathryn Fox

Pleasure Inn
by Cathryn Fox
(Pleasure Inn 1, 2 & 3)
Erotica Romance
3.5 Feathers

This book is the compilation of 3 previously released short stories. so I will review them individually.

All Tied Up
Pleasure Inn # 1
Find it on GoodReads!

This is the first book in the Pleasure Inn series. The premises of the series are basically three best friends who haven't had the best of luck with men and have decided to stay away from them!! Enter the Goddess of Passion to the rescue! She has decided to take it upon herself to help them find happiness... and sexual bliss! ;)

All Tied Up is the story of Lindsay. She is an interior designer and has been hired by, yes, mystery client/Goddess of Passion, to design the perfect BDSM room. Except to complete her special fantasy room a wall has a to come down... Ahhhh... we need the services of a sexy, hunky handyman! Meet Brad. He is miles away from all the men Lindsay is used to dating and attracting, but is she up for the challenge?

This was a fun, short, sexy, hot, kinky. I definitely enjoy this author's writing style! Yes, it's erotica, but Ms. Fox does it well! I mean, really, who can resist a drop-dead gorgeous guy in a tool belt who is good with his hands... and a paddle?

The romance aspect was good enough, although I probably would've rather seen it being more realistic without all the I Love You's at the end. It's hard to develop a good solid romance storyline in a short story like this. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable quick read and I'm looking forward to see what happens with her friends!

All Worked Up
Pleasure Inn # 2
Find it on GoodReads!

The work of the Goddess Pamina is not finished in Mason Creek. Candace Steel has sworn off men because, as the daughter of a famous Hollywood movie producer, she seems to only attract aspiring actors or industry people that just want to use her as a stepping stone to get in her fathers good graces and further their careers.

She is now assigned to design one of the fantasy themed rooms at the Pleasure Inn, and she's decided to make it a GO-ALL-NIGHT kind of, athletic room. With a tantra chair, a sex swing and a stripper pole by the window! It just makes it hard to concentrate on her design when she keeps drooling over the paint stripper. And I mean that's what he was hired to do, strip paint, of course she wouldn't mind if he stripped other things. The man is gorgeous! And more than willing to offer to extend his services to furniture building for her, which means they could spend more time together.

Marc Collins is lying to her though. He actually works for her father as security, and was sent to Mason Creek to keep an eye on her and protect her after her father started receivng threating letters. He really shouldn't be walking around like a teenage boy wanting to get in her pants. He should keep a professional distance. But it's very hard to do when she's so openly flirting. And maybe he just can't resist her.

You might need a change of panties with this one, just saying! I loved the scene with him in the van going over his security videos, touching himself and then she knocks on the door. LOL And of course a very timely help by Abra, the fat cat!

This was a very sexy little short story. Of course, again, as with the first one, I wasn't convinced or ready for the I Love You's at the end of it. They hadn't really even known each other that long. But I'm on to the last one!

All Lit Up
Pleasure Inn # 3
Find it on GoodReads!

This was the last of the friends to get some magical help from the Goddess of Passion. But it was my favorite story of the three. A story of a childhood crush, Anna had a crush on Daniel, her next door neighbor, high school football star, and all around hot guy in town. But she thought Daniel only wanted to get in her pants and move on, which ruined her conceptions of Prince Charming ever knocking on her door. And when he left town years ago she thought she'd never have to deal with him again!

She was not expecting to see him in tight jeans and a toolbelt ready to help her lay some bricks around the bathtub she's designing for her special fantasy room. A romantic at heart, she's designing a sinfully intimate fantasy room, with a bathtub, fireplace, etc.

Daniel finally decided to come back to Mason Creek, leave his great career in the city, and get the girl next door. He's been in love with Anna since they were teenagers, and even though you could say he was a bit of a jock, he always turned into a babbling idiot next to her. Until she stopped talking to him before her sweet sixteen. And after getting the cold shoulder from her for a few years, which had ripped his heart out, he had run away.

But he would run away no longer. After a crash course in masonry by his brothers, he wanted to show Anna he was the man for her.

This story was so much better in romance build up, for a short story of course it helps that they have such history.

And I loved how we get a bit of closure from Pamina's side, when she finally lifts the curse a turns Abra into a hunky human again, and he gets to have his wicked way with the Goddess. He's learned his lesson and won't be looking at other girls again!
