Glee star Lea Michele splits from her boyfriend

PEP:

Lea Michele has split from her boyfriend.

The Glee star and Broadway actor Theo Stockman have decided to call time on their 17-month relationship but are adamant the breakup is amicable.

A representative for Lea confirmed to E! News: "This is not a dramatic breakup, the relationship just ran its course. They are still friends and will always be friends."

One contributing factor is believed to be the amount of time Lea and Theo got to spend together as their busy careers kept them apart, with the 25-year-old actress shooting Glee in Los Angeles, while Theo lives in New York City.

Lea recently revealed she loved being in a relationship because it made her feel settled.

She said: "I'm a relationship girl. I would rather be in a long-distance relationship with him than not have a relationship at all."

She also revealed Theo reminded her of her father Marc as they had similar qualities such as a good sense of humor and caring nature.

She said: "My father makes me laugh—my sense of humor comes from him—but at the same time, I know he's going to take care of everything. I see some of that in my boyfriend."

Jude Law sows an epidemic of fear in 'Contagion'

MB:

Considered one of Britain’s finest actors, Jude Law stars as an enterprising journalist who has an agenda of his own, in Warner Bros.' new, gripping thriller “Contagion” from director Steven Soderbergh.

“Contagion” follows the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

As the virus rapidly advances—invisible, relentless and indiscriminate—a different kind of contagion appears, introduced by outsider journalist Alan Krumwiede (Law), who is convinced the government is withholding the truth and maybe even a possible cure. Although many of the issues Krumwiede raises are valid, his methods fan the grassfire of alarm and, says producer Gregory Jacobs, “contribute to the film’s atmosphere of shifting tones and levels, at once a drama, a mystery and a thriller.”

“Part of the story is the way in which information spreads along similar pathways to that of a virus: who gets it and how it moves forward, how it’s altered as it moves from one host to another or one organization to the next. And Krumwiede is the face of that idea,” says Soderbergh. “That was our focus throughout the movie, treating information like a baton that gets passed from one scene to the next. There are so many interesting tributaries. In this situation, it’s a lethal problem because misinformation can kill.”

While the international medical community searches for a cure, Alan Krumwiede pursues an agenda of his own. Combining a genuine reporter’s instinct with a pathological distrust of all things official and a flair for the dramatic, he commits his popular blog to exposing the truth about the growing epidemic…as he sees it.

“His demand for the truth could be seen as heroic,” says Law. “He believes people have a right to know and that information should be shared, especially when it’s something on this scale, and he was the first to break the story of a man dying on a Tokyo bus, who turned out to be one of the virus’ first victims. He has the courage of his convictions but his pride and ego often get in the way. He casts too broad a net for his stories and doesn’t always care about the repercussions of what he puts out there.”
“Krumwiede is not always wrong,” Soderbergh points out.

But neither is he always right. And what he broadcasts takes on a life of its own as people desperate for answers turn to his blog. As the disease continues to proliferate, so does his subscriber base, from modest beginnings to 2 million, then 12 million people. “There are always conspiracy theories that percolate around significant events,” says screenwriter Scott Z. Burns. “And just as a virus begins with one person and spreads, Krumwiede becomes the ‘index patient’ for what becomes a parallel epidemic of fear and panic.”

Brad Pitt: Jennifer Aniston Isn't Dull, But Life with her was Dull

PEP:

Brad Pitt "pretended" his marriage to Jennifer Aniston was "something that it wasn't."

The Moneyball actor—who was married to former Friends star Jennifer from 2000 to 2005—thinks his life before his relationship with Angelina Jolie started to feel "pathetic" because he spent a lot of time smoking marijuana and "hiding."

He said: "I spent the '90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn't living an interesting life myself.

"I think that my marriage [to Jennifer Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't."

However, the 47-year-old actor, now lives a much happier life with Angelina Jolie and their six children—Maddox, 10; Pax, 7; Zahara, 6; Shiloh, 5, and three-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

He said: "One of the greatest, smartest things I ever did was give my kids Angie as their mum. She is such a great mum. Oh man, I'm so happy to have her."

Brad also reveals he has found being a parent easy because he always trusts his instincts.

He added to Parade magazine: "I was surprised at how automatic it is, how much of it is instinctual. And now I have great confidence and trust in those instincts.

"I mean, one sound at night and you're awake and up because they may need you. Or when they start to have a tantrum, you know to divert them from spinning out by helping them focus on something. It just goes on and on.

"I tell them, "You can make a mess, but you've got to clean it up.'"

Will.i.am, Apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie are set to perform their hits "I Gotta Feeling," "Don't Stop the Party," "Boom, Boom Pow," and "The Dirty Bit."

Their October 25 concert will mark the launch of the "We Can Be Anything" campaign, a partnership between the Apl.de.Ap Foundation and the Ninoy Cory Aquino Foundation. This advocacy aims to raise funds to build public school classrooms and learning centers.

With disbandment rumors in the air, last July 2011 the band have denied breakup rumors and announced that they were taking an indefinite hiatus, focusing on their individual projects.

The group was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1995. Since the release of their third album Elephunk in 2003, the group has sold an estimated 56 million records worldwide.

Their first worldwide song was "Where is the Love" in 2003, which topped over ten charts worldwide. Another single was the European hit "Shut Up." Their next album Monkey Business, was a worldwide success, certified 4× Platinum in the U.S., and spawning two singles, "My Humps" and "Don't Phunk with My Heart."

In 2009, the group became one of only 11 artists to have simultaneously held the No. 1 and No. 2 spots on the Billboard Hot 100, with their singles "Boom, Boom Pow" and "I Gotta Feeling," with the next single "Meet Me Halfway" achieving similar success, from the album The E.N.D..

Since 2004, Black Eyed Peas had six tours and have performed in hundreds of sold-out shows and concerts—The E.N.D World Tour in 2009 to 2010 and The Beginning Massive Stadium Tour in 2011.

Heidi Klum deemed most dangerous celeb in cyberspace

MB:

Supermodel and TV host Heidi Klum was named on Thursday as the most dangerous celebrity in cyberspace, inviting malware and viruses to flourish on computers.

Internet security firm McAfee said searching for downloads and screensavers for the "Project Runaway" judge and former Victoria's Secret model runs a nearly one in 10 chance of landing on a malicious website with spyware, spam, phishing and other viruses designed to steal personal information.

CNN talk show host Piers Morgan, also a judge on "America's Got Talent" and a former British tabloid newspaper editor, was the most dangerous male celebrity in the survey, produced annually by McAfee.

McAfee said cyber criminals often used the name of popular celebrities to lure people to websites that are laden with malicious software.

It said singers and sports stars tended to be safer searches than movie stars and models. Cameron Diaz topped the cyberspace danger list in 2010, and was No. 2 this year.

"While slightly safer than last year, searching for top celebrities continues to generate risky results," said Paula Greve, director of Web security research at McAfee.

"Consumers should be particularly aware of malicious content hiding in 'tiny' places likes shortened URLs that can spread virally in social networking sites, or through e-mails and text messages."

Making news headlines does not seem to be a factor. Charlie Sheen was ranked 59 in the 2011 list, despite his acrimonious departure from television show "Two and A Half Men", and Lindsay Lohan was 18th despite being in an out of court and jail again this year.

The five most dangerous celebrities in cyberspace, according to McAfee are:

1. Heidi Klum

2. Cameron Diaz

3. Piers Morgan

4. Jessica Biel

5. Katherine Heigl

Madonna to critics: review my movie, not me

MALAYA:

Madonna on Monday said she said she doesn’t mind any criticism of her filmmaking abilities, so long as it is directed at her movie and not at herself.

The pop star told reporters at the Toronto International Film Festival, where she is promoting her second film "W.E.," she had to earn her reputation as a musician and she expected to do the same as a film director.

"I had the same kind of pressure when I began my music career," Madonna told reporters. "I was nervous, and I didn’t know what to expect, and people didn’t know what to expect."

The film, which premiered at the Venice film festival and is screening at Toronto, has been characterized by critics as visually stunning, but lacking in focus and burdened by weak performances.

"I can tell when people are reviewing my film and when they’re reviewing me personally," Madonna said when asked whether she cared about what critics thought. "So when they stick to the film, then I do care."

"W.E." stars Abbie Cornish as a young New Yorker in the 1990s who becomes infatuated with the 1930s marriage of King Edward VIII and American divorcee Wallis Simpson, played by Andrea Riseborough. It follows Madonna’s first feature, 2008’s "Filth and Wisdom," which performed poorly at the box office.

Britain’s The Guardian newspaper was the harshest among the critics, giving the film just one star out five, while the Daily Telegraph gave a more positive three star review.

The budget of "W.E." is estimated to be around $15 million, and it hits movie theaters in the United States in December, prompting one journalist to ask Madonna about her Oscar hopes for the film.

"My legs and my fingers are crossed," she quipped. – Reuters

Scarlett Johansson 'naked photos' leaked online

METRO:

Numerous photographs of a female resembling the 26-year-old actress appeared on a website this morning, with some reports suggesting they are fake.

One of the snaps shows her standing naked in front of a mirror with just a bed-sheet covering her front while she stands back and takes a snap on her camera phone.

Another appears to be a topless shot of her laying back on a bed showing her breasts while she seductively stares into the camera.

Although it cannot be confirmed if this is indeed the Lost In Translation actress, one of the photos that has been leaked shows a tattoo on the woman's left arm - similar to one Scarlett has been photographed showing before.

Reports surfaced in March this year that a group of opportunist hackers stole nude photos from up to 50 A-list celebrities, including Scarlett, after breaking into their email accounts.

But not wanting to have her name linked to naked images, sources have told US gossip site TMZ that the leggy star's representatives have contacted the FBI as they believe a criminal act has been committed.

It is not the first case of celebrity naked photos which the FBI has had to deal with, having also worked on similar cases with High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens and Hollywood actress Jessica Alba.

Playboy goes retro, slashes price to 60 cents

GMA NEWS:

It was among the most exciting periods of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's life, so what could be better in a bad economy than to retrace the 1960s' good times and give readers a break on the price of his magazine?

Hefner is slashing the cost of Playboy's October issue, which hits newsstands this Friday, to 60 cents. His editors have styled the men's magazine with retro look matching 1961, when the first Playboy Club was founded, and linked it to the debut of TV show "The Playboy Club" by putting star Laura Benanti on the cover — and inside the pages.

"It's hard to put into words the fact that, obviously, everything changed for me in that time frame," Hefner told Reuters. And that statement from a man who has made words one of the centerpieces of his life.

The octogenarian known as "Hef" who embodies a stylish life of posh nightclubs, wild parties, men's fashion, free speech and, of course, naked women, said that six years after he founded the magazine in 1953, his life changed quickly.

The magazine that made its biggest splash publishing nude pictures of Marilyn Monroe was, by that time, being read by millions. From late 1959 through 1960, he held his first jazz festival, hosted his first TV show and opened his initial Playboy Mansion in Chicago.

"Those were some of the best and most romantic years of my life," Hef said.

There is no doubt Hef will take a bath at newsstands with the October issue. But Playboy makes more money from subscriptions, and Hef said he expects to significantly make up the losses with increased advertising.

Editorial director Jimmy Jellinek said ad pages are up 70 percent for the October issue compared with last year, well beyond the 16 percent year-to-date boost the magazine had already seen in 2011. Moreover, the book has lured new advertisers in fashion, grooming and entertainment.

"This issue is a love letter to vintage Playboy," Jellinek said, "At the same time, we're also being relentlessly modern."

Broadway’s bunny

Indeed, among the hottest fashion trends for men are retro looks inspired by TV shows such as "Mad Men," which no doubt was an inspiration for other period programs like NBC's new "The Playboy Club," a fictional primetime drama about what goes on behind the scenes of one of the '60s-era nightclubs.

The October issue is inspired by that lifestyle with a 10-page spread featuring original Playboy "Bunnies," women who worked at the clubs, and an "insider's guide" that offers the chance to win a trip for two to the current Playboy Club at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

Benanti, 32, an actress and singer who won Broadway's Tony for a revival of "Gypsy" and stars in TV's new "Playboy Club," slips into one of the Bunny costumes for the cover, then sheds some of her clothing for pictures inside the issue.

'Spartacus' star Andy Whitfield dies of lymphoma at 39

AP:

Andy Whitfield, who played the title role in the hit cable series "Spartacus: Blood and Sand," has died at age 39, according to representatives and family.

Whitfield died Sunday in Sydney, Australia, 18 months after he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, manager Sam Maydew told the Associated Press.

"On a beautiful sunny Sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer," Whitfield's wife Vashti said in a statement. "He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was."

Andy Whitfield — who was born in Wales and moved to Australia in 1999 — was a virtual unknown when he was cast as the legendary Thracian slave in "Spartacus," a role made famous by Kirk Douglas in the 1960 Stanley Kubrick film.

The series proved a breakout hit for the Starz network and made waves with its graphic violence and sexuality.

Whitfield appeared in all 13 episodes of the first season that aired in 2010, and was preparing to shoot the second when he was diagnosed with cancer.

While waiting for Whitfield's treatment and expected recovery, the network produced a six-part prequel, "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena," that aired earlier this year with only a brief voiceover from the actor.

But in January after Whitfield's condition grew worse, the network announced that another Australian actor, Liam McIntyre, would take over the role.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Andy Whitfield," Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht said in a statement Sunday night. "We were fortunate to have worked with Andy in 'Spartacus' and came to know that the man who played a champion on-screen was also a champion in his own life."

Whitfield's previous credits included appearances on the Australian TV shows "Packed to the Rafters" and "McLeod's Daughters."
