Bento Sandwich Naked Baby Salami Star

Its been a long time since I made bentos that doesn't require any cooking. Today I have decided to wake up at 0700hr to make what I call a Cook-Free bento for Mr Bear.

This is what I did while Mr Bear was getting ready to work:

- Cut of the crust of bread.
- Spread butter on 1 side of bread and lay the cheese and salami.
- Cut the bread neatly into half and squeeze them into the bento box.
- Add the salami star and cheese baby which I had prepared last night.
- Fill up the rest of the bentos with fresh strawberries.
- @ 0715hr BENTO FINISHED!

For this Naked Baby Sandwich Bento, I had used a black bento box from Daiso. I guess its meant for  men because of some funny words printed on the lid. It says, "THE KING OF KINGS the king wore a crown. he is the king of kings" :D :D :D I bought both sizes and this is the larger one.

For the cheese, I chose to use sliced young Dutch Gouda cheese ( Goudse kaas - Jong belegen) instead of the usual cheddar cheese because Mr Bear doesn't like cheddar and also because it doesn't go all floppy so soon. For the nori bits, I used a nori punch for the mouth and the leaf piece. The leaf shaped nori punch I had does not have the jagged edges, so I add them in myself. DIY Bento Accessories - sandwich cutter, ham and cheese cutter - Leaf and Heart shape

In case some of you have been reading my blog and thinking that I have a crazy huge stash of bento accesories or I spent a lot of money buying all these stuffs, nah, I don't have a walk-in closet full of bento stuffs and I didn't spend a lot on whatever I have either. Tell you a *secret* , I make my own sandwich cutters, ham and cheese cutters, rice/couscous molds!

These tiny easy stuffs are fantastic because we get to do our bit for the environment and they do not cost that much as well. AND they are great for those days when you suddenly need to cut out a certain shape from that stack of sliced cheese.

Today I will share with you how I make my own leaf / heart shape cutter. Read on!

DIY bento accessories - tools

 First of all, you will need this 3 things: Any empty soda bottle, pen knife and a pair of scissors.

 Cut a strip of plastic out right across the bottle just like this picture above and below. Be careful not to cut your fingers because sometimes the edges can be quite sharp.

 Pinch the plastic strip as shown in the picture below.

There you go, a LEAF shaped sandwich cutter. You can also use it to cut sliced cheese and ham.

From this point, you can also make a heart shaped sandwich cutter out of the same piece of plastic. Hold it just like I did in the picture below and just squeeze hard.
