Release Date Announcements : TEXAS KILLING FIELDS, THE GREY, THE SMURFS 2, WORLD WAR Z

TEXAS KILLING FIELDS - October 7, 2011 [Updated - October 14, Limited]

A movie that seems to be suffering from poor marketing, "Texas Killing Fields" stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Sam Worthington as two cops who hunt down a serial killer. Based on a true story. Check out an early trailer below :

THE GREY - January 27, 2012.

In "The Grey", Liam Neeson leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks when their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. Battling mortal injuries and merciless weather, the survivors have only a few days to escape the icy elements – and a vicious pack of rogue wolves on the hunt – before their time runs out. Written and directed by Joe Carnahan ("Narc", "Smokin Aces"). There's talk of a Best Leading Actor Oscar campaign in the works for Liam Neeson.

THE SMURFS 2 - August 12, 2013

Encouraged by the surprising success of "The Smurfs", Sony decided to start pushing for the sequel. Since August worked well for the first movie, they scheduled the sequel in the same month, and since 2012 is  already packed with big releases, the decision to move to 2013 puts them ahead of the race, so far. For now nothing else is known, except that they started writing the script in June and it's very likely that director Raja Gosnell will return.

WORLD WAR Z - December 21, 2012

I see zombies are back in style. "World War Z" is one of the more original approaches to undead infestation, based on a novel by Max Brooks and directed by Mark Foster ("Monster's Ball", "Quantum of Solace"). It tells the story of the war against the zombies that almost eradicated all of humanity. What's so interesting about the story is that the novel was written as a sort of recorded collection of first-hand experiences narrated by survivors, in the aftermath of the dreadful war. It certainly adds a fresh spin on a tired genre. Starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Anthony Mackie, James Badge Dale and Bryan Cranston (who seems to be in every movie these days).
