CAPTAIN AMERICA (2011) - 'Behind the Shield' Featurette

The Featurette sets up the backstory of the character and gives us plenty of details about the concept and making of the Shield, Captain America's tool of inflicting justice on the bad guys. It's a bit annoying how Norton conceived their product placement in the featurette. The whole buy-me concept is completely wasted on me, though. I use Avira. "Captain America: The First Avenger" comes out on July 22, 2011.

GREEN LANTERN - 'The Oath, the Ring and the Lantern' Featurette

"The Oath, the Ring and the Lantern" is a two-minute featurette detailing the fantastical mythology of the "Green Lantern". It mainly features an interview with Ryan Reynolds about his character, Hal, and the concept of the Lantern. The scenes featured here are nothing really new, but the interviews add enough insight into the movie's themes to warrant a look. The movie opens on June 17, 2011.

TRANSFORMERS 3 - Base Jumping Featurette

This is a very interesting featurette detailing how the base jumping soldiers scene was done. To my surprise, the actual jumping and gliding is live-action, done by actual people, only the backdrops and explosions are CGI. Credit goes to Michael Bay who has a real talent when it comes to staging impressive action scenes. With this last entry in the "Transformers" trilogy, he seems to be aiming far higher than before. The movie opens on June 29, 2011.
