Official Synopsis: From Alexander Payne, the creator of the Oscar-winning SIDEWAYS, set in Hawaii, THE DESCENDANTS is a sometimes humorous, sometimes tragic journey for Matt King (George Clooney) an indifferent husband and father of two girls, who is forced to re-examine his past and embrace his future when his wife suffers a boating accident off of Waikiki. George Clooney stars in this dramedy about Matt King, a neglectful husband and father who tries to rebuild his relationship with his two daughters after his wife suffers a boating accident. Written and directed by Alexander Payne, who previosly wrote and directed the award-winning"Sideways" starring Paul Giamatti, and "About Schmidt" starring Jack Nicholson. The movie will receive a limited release on December 16, 2011 in the US, then on January 19, 2012 in Germany, followed by a February 2 opening in the Netherlands. Nothing else so far, which means the producers are clearly aiming for the awards season, and they don't believe the movie is financially viable. DVDs might be the only way to see this one.
