Shamcey Supsup guns for our third Miss U crown

MALAYA:

ON Tuesday morning, September 13, Miss Universe Philippines 2011 Shamcey Gurrea Supsup will battle it out with 88 other delegates worldwide for the 60th Miss Universe crown at the Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Shamcey has been leading unofficial popularity polls of pageant websites worldwide and Filipino pageant fanatics are eager to know whether the official Miss Universe online voting for a semi-final slot will also go to the beauteous Filipina architect from General Santos City.

You may continue voting for Shamcey by logging on to www.missuniverse.com and go to CONTESTANT page and give Shamcey a "10" ranking.

No less than world boxing champ and fellow GenSan native Manny Pacquiao wished the beauteous architect the best of luck as she attempts to duplicate the feats of two previous Pinay Miss Universe champs – Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margie Moran in 1973.

The fabulous beauty extravaganza will be telecast live by ABS-CBN at 9 a.m. on Tuesday; the winner of the prestigious pageant will succeed Mexico’s Ximena Navarrete.

Shamcey is up against other pre-pageant favorites including the delegates from China, Australia, Nicaragua, Spain, USA, Venezuela, Japan, Aruba and Korea.

The Asian contingent this year is one of the most competitive in recent years but Shamcey, who thrives on discipline and determination as her weapons for success, is unfazed.

She hopes to equal, if not surpass Venus Raj’s 4th runner-up finish in Las Vegas last year.

Pageant Watch wishes Shamcey all the best on her Miss Universe campaign in Brazil even as another GenSan beauty, Catrine Rosary Inciong Ocampo triumphed as the first Miss Casino Filipino winner at the PAGCOR Grand Theater in ParaƱaque City last Saturday.

The 18-year old, 5-foot-8 Ocampo was a top ten finalist at the Miss Philippines Earth 2011 pageant last June. She bested 28 other contestants to become PAGCOR Casino Filipino’s ambassadress of beauty and goodwill.

She will also represent the Philippines at this year’s Miss Queen of the World Pageant in Germany.
