The Philippine’s Miss Universe bet for 2011, Shamcey Supsup, made a splash recently at a beach resort in Sao Paolo, Brazil by parading for a swimsuit pictorial along with other candidates.
According to a report on abscbnnews.com, the pictorial form part of the pageant with the candidates wearing the pageant's official 2-piece swimsuits.
After the activity, the contestants got a taste of Brazil’s rich cultural heritage via a short tour of the host country. They joined locals in various activities including a performance of Capoiera, a Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, sports, and music. The ladies also visited a football museum.
According to the same report, the tour paved the way for Supsup to meet new friends from different parts of the world.
Supsup is recognized as the tilt's current most popular candidate, this based on a survey conducted by Telemundo, an American TV network that broadcasts in Spanish. The network's survey results, Sunday, Aug. 28, had the General Santos beauty at the top spot with 1,312,018 votes.
Another survey, sponsored by missosology, a website on beauty pageants, also had Supsup leading with 1,908 votes followed by Miss Puerto Rico with 814, Miss Indonesia with 433, Miss Mexico with 234 and Miss Venezuela with 222.
Then again, the survey that matters most is the official fan vote being conducted by the Miss Universe Organization (MUO). Candidates who top the survey will land a spot in the pageant’s semifinals. Results of the voting will be announced on coronation night (Sept. 13 in the Philippines).
Last year, fans of Maria Venus Raj pushed her to the top of the MUO survey.
