"True Grit" is the Coen brother's own foray into the western genre
. Not as much a remake of the John Wayne classic that earned him an Oscar in 1970, but a new adaptation of the novel written by Charles Portis. A story of revenge and redemption set in the old Wild West, the movie has a stellar cast, wonderful production values and a very articulate script written by the Coens. A complete movie in every way, exciting and immersive, featuring a breakout performance from newcomer Hailee Steinfeld, nominated for a Supporting Role Oscar this year. The movie was also nominated in 9 other categories, including Best Actor in a Leading Role - Jeff Bridges and Best Motion Picture of the Year.
