Oscar De La Hoya spilled the details of his marital, drug and alcohol problems in a recent interview with Univision. He also spoke about the claims of stripper Milana Dravnel and the fishnet photo scandal and confessed that it was him in those pictures.
De La Hoya revealed his battle with alcohol and drugs, and said he even contemplated suicide. 'Within a couple of years, just thinking if my life was even worth it. I don't have the strength, I don't have the courage to take my own life but I was thinking about it. My drug of choice was cocaine and alcohol. Cocaine was in the last two years. I depended more in the alcohol than the cocaine,' he said. Oscar has been clean and sober for three months after going to rehab and attending Alcoholics Anonymous.
In 2007 Ms Dravnel claimed Oscar had cheated on his wife with her and posted the embarrassing images on the Internet. At the time, De La Hoya claimed it was not him in the photos, that they were composed with Photoshop and that the stripper was 'out for money.
De La Hoya reportedly hired a team of lawyers, a PR firm and business associates to discredit Ms Dravnel and force her into retracting her story. In June 2008, Ms Dravnel settled a federal lawsuit she brought against De La Hoya. Details of the settlement were never revealed as they signed confidentiality agreements.
Milana Dravnel recently threw a haymaker at the De la Hoya, suing him for $100 million for smearing her rep. Dravnel alleges in the suit that De La Hoya’s lawyers coerced her into taking back her story (the one where she allegedly took those saucy pictures of Oscar in fishnet stockings and more in a Philly hotel room) and made false promises to her if she recanted. Dravnel also claims she was his mistress from January 2006 to May 2007, and that she was paid $70,000 for the pictures, a price her lawyer says was “below market.” She’s now suing for “fraud, defamation, and infliction of emotional distress.”
