MST:
Not very many has the heart strong enough to survive intrigues in show business, especially when they get involved with someone more favored by the powers-that-be in a monolithic corporate management of a network.
Yet, Heart Evangelista who recently got embroiled in a mess with a more favored talent in the network she is signed in just had to hold on to her faith as a performer and as a person, believing she hadn’t stepped on anybody’s toes nor hurt anyone.
In fact, in the last couple of months that she has been kept in limbo by the network’s management, she has had the chance to engage in criticism-self criticism, looking at other prospects, in case her acting career would slow down as an effect of that imbroglio.
She has just renewed her contract with GMA Network, Inc. and that means she will be on the network for the next two years or so.
The question is, will she be just one of those waiting for their stars to lose brilliance till the contract expires?
On the one hand, she finds joy in the fact she has been in show business in the last 10 years.
And she has fond memories of those years, like in 2001 when she was awarded Best New TV Personality by PMPC. From then, she says that it has been a fruitful journey. That award reflected the way she has carefully handled her relationship with the viewing public. No wonder she has really become one of TV’s amiable personalities over the years.
Looking back, even with a few bumps on the road that go along for being a showbiz star, it was o doubt a great ride. And what better way to go on with the trip by being grateful of all the blessings she has received in her storied career.
Born on Feb. 14, 1985 to Reynaldo Ongpauco and Cecilia Payawal, Heart is the youngest in a brood of six. She grew up in California, United States where she attended Audubon Elementary School. At age 10, her family moved back to the Philippines and soon she began pursuing her childhood dream of becoming an actress.
She moved to GMA Network in 2008 and signed a two-year exclusive contract, starring in the series Codename-Asero. She played the title role in Ay Ayeng wherein she won a Famas Best Actress trophy the following year.
Heart’s recent TV works include lead roles in Dwarfina, and Langit Sa Piling Mo which were both certified top-raters, having beaten their head-to-head counterparts from other TV stations. She also participated in last year’s Puso Ng Pasko: Artista Challenge. She appeared in Mano Po 6 and Nobody, Nobody But Juan in 2009.
With the issue involving her a fellow actor in Temptation Island, Heart has found herself in a lose-lose situation for now. GMA Network has shelved the drama that should have had her and Dingdong Dantes in the lead roles, in case Marian Rivera, the latter’s girlfriend, would lose her mind and might even do worse than what she did to Heart during the shooting of Temptation Island, the details of which had been splashed in newspapers, magazines, and bloggers websites.
The network seems at a lose with what to do with her. Geoff Eigenmann told us in Iriga City two weeks ago that he would start a new soap with Heart, yet Heart says that Legacy (that was supposed to be the title of the series) had been shelved as well.
