Top Ten Authors I Would Love To Meet

For the record, I stole this idea from book blogger/reviewing queen, Kara Malinczak. I read her post the other night and decided that I HAD to cover this same topic on my own little blog. (Don't read her blog? Check it out....http://www.greatimaginations.blogspot.com/, she has excellent taste in books, and she reviews them with respect and honesty. I dig that in a reviewer.)

So here it is....today's blog:

Top Ten Authors That I Would LOVE To Meet

1.) Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy...hands down, number one needs to be none other than Kristan Higgins. She's fabulous. He books are funny, her books are emotional, they have the exact amount of heat that I like to read and write, she apparently has excellent taste in shoes, per my writing partner, who met her in May. She's amazing. Love her.

2.) Nora Roberts. This woman is amazing. She writes amazing, fun, sexy stories and she never disappoints. That's what amazes me about her. She literally NEVER disappoints. I love that she's made herself a Goddess in this industry, but doesn't let that become an excuse to put out books that are lacking in content. If I ever met Ms. Roberts, I would probably foam at the mouth.

3.) Jennifer Crusie. Okay, aside from the fact that I really, really like her books, and they, too, never disappoint...Jennifer Crusie just seems like a kick a** person. Funny, witty, personable...plus she uses the term "cheesus saves" on her website, and well, we all know how I feel about cheese.

4.) Liza Palmer....um, okay, so technically, I have already met this author. I met her at a book signing before I'd read any of her books. Well, now I've read them all, and I am sort of...well, obsessed. I follow her on twitter and facebook and I literally cannot get enough of her wit and sarcasm. Plus, I think we may have been separated at birth. I want to hang out with Liza Palmer. Ok, I am seriously heading into restraining order territory. But still....

5.) I still haven't forgotten the way I felt when I put down the book, Drowning Ruth, by Christina Schwartz. Haunted, disturbed, completely and utterly entertained. I would love to sit at a table and pick Ms. Schwartz's brain for a few hours.

6.) Ruth Doan MacDougall....oh how I loved her books, The Cheerleader and Snowy! I loved them, I loved them, I LOVED them. I would love to have the opportunity to have her sign copies of those two books for my mom and myself. I would love love love to be able to say I met her. She is one of those authors who would make me have one of those "We're not worthy! We're not worthy!" Wayne's World moments.

7.) Anne Tyler seriously kicks ass. Though every single time I read her books, I am tempted to throw them against a wall and drink heavily, I am stunned by her ability to suck me into the drama of her characters, despite how much I don't like them and want to strangle them. However, if I did meet her, I would more than likely wind up arguing with her about how abruptly she ends her books. Girlfriend...you gotta give me a little more to go on....

8.) Lavyrle Spencer. This is the woman who started it all. The woman whose writing made me want to become a writer of romance. *SIGH* She is the original reason I got into romance in the first place. Before that, it was The Babysitters Club and Sweet Valley High! Such an important person in the history of Brooke Moss.

9.) Maggie Stiefvater.....um....wow. This author is so talented, she made ME read not only a werewolf book, which I vowed never to do, but also a YA book, which I don't often do at all. And boy was I glad I did. Her Wolves of Mercy Falls books are incredible. Page turning, staying-up-late-to finish, mourning it when it's over kinds of books that make you think about them LONG after you're done. I am waiting until my vacation at the end of this month to read the conclusion to that trilogy, and I can hardly wait!

10.) Sarah Addison Allen....(Again, copied off of Kara Malinczak) Each and every one of SAA's books are magical and sweet, yet haunting and captivating. She is extremely talented at making the unbelievable seem completely believable. Plus, she is a battling cancer right now, and quite young, I can't help but admire her talent and strength. Amazing woman.

There are so many other authors I would love to have on my list. But alas, my blogging time is up. It's time for me to get back to work. Le sigh.....(Yes, I sigh in French.) Who would be on your list of writers to meet??

Brooke Moss.
