Last year, Planned Parenthood ended the lives of 324,008 unborn children and forever changed the lives of that many women. Even as the national abortion rate declines or -- at worst -- is stagnant, the number of babies aborted at Planned Parenthood continues to climb and climb. Why? Take a look at the chart:
The more taxpayer funding Planned Parenthood receives, the more abortions they perform. In ten years, Planned Parenthood's taxpayer funding has increased by 94 percent. The result? The number of abortions Planned Parenthood performs has increased by 69 percent.
Yet, incredibly, Planned Parenthood and its allies like to claim that taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood actually reduces the number of abortions. I am not quite sure how they can say it with a straight face.
If we want to reduce the number of deaths induced by Planned Parenthood, we need to end its life line: taxpayer funding.
That's why the SBA List is working so hard to do two things:

- Partner with pro-life allies in the states working to defund Planned Parenthood. Thus far, over $60 million has been slashed, and we are working to increase this number as we work through the fall and into the 2012 legislative sessions. These efforts at the state level further expose Planned Parenthood, keep them on the defensive, and bring momentum to our efforts to defund them at the federal level.
- Lay the groundwork for the election of a Pro-Life President in 2012 and win back the Senate from the hands of Harry Reid so we can finally defund Planned Parenthood of the federal dollars it receives. Already, through the success of our Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge, candidates are making a firm, written commitment that they will actively work to defund Planned Parenthood if elected to the White House.
I know sometimes that it may seem that we're spreading ourselves thin - but if we want to pass laws that save lives and ultimately end abortion, we must act with urgency. In New Hampshire and Indiana, we're defending the right of states to defund Planned Parenthood despite interference from the Obama Administration and a lawsuit from Planned Parenthood. And we're staying on the offensive, teaming up with states ready to introduce their own measures to defund. On the political front, we're laying the ground work for pro-life victory by vetting each announced candidate, demanding that anyone who calls them self "pro-life" takes a stand for unborn children and their mothers by signing our Pro-Life Presidential Leadership Pledge. When it comes to protecting children and women from the violence of abortion, there will be no truce. We've got to keep the pressure on, but between the economy and the "summer slump" of fundraising, we're running far lower on resources then where we need to be. Planned Parenthood's pockets are deep, and they have powerful friends. But the SBA List has you, and angels guiding our work from Heaven. The voiceless unborn need our voices today. The SBA List will never stop speaking the truth about abortion, and your support of this cause amplifies our voice in the public square. Together, let's work to defund Planned Parenthood. Let's fire Harry Reid as Majority Leader in the Senate. And let's replace Barack Obama with a Pro-Life Leader in the White House. Have a wonderful rest of your week,
