WALTER WINCHELL'S FUNERAL

Journalist Walter Winchell

1897 - 1972

I'll do more with Pennywise later.

Here is a one-take of my song: "Walter Winchell's Funeral," in the Frailing or "Clawhammer" Banjo style.

It is rough I know, and I will try to re-record and mix it all up in a different way the next time.

I'll add more notes later. But for now, if any of youse are having a few beers or glasses of wine or drinks or whatever this Saturday night,  you might be drunk enough to take a few minutes to want to watch old crazy Johnny Painterguy slamming on his old Banjo.

What a difference a day makes right?

Gotta go for a walk Shane now. He has been so patient.  And I might try to change that first pic of me wincing. It just came out that way.

When I was a young boy
I sailed upon the sea.
Now I am an old man,
woe oh woe is me!

And of course a "Woe is Me!" For effect or whatever. Anyway, it felt good to get a Woe is Me off my chest......so there.

(Starting @ 4:58.) It made me think of you, and the rain etc.
Silly me right? And turn it all up kind of loud, and stare out at the sea.

Tin can at my feet
Think I'll kick it down the street
That's the way to treat a friend.
(That part is a hidden message for someone else Ann)

* As far as the song about Walter Winchell's Funeral goes, it is my own composition.

I realize it is a bit gloomy, but that is why I have named it after a funeral, and like I say, I had seen a television documentary about WW and his life, and how he was a rough and tumble Journalist, and not very well liked by many people.

So the song is my tribute to all the Journalists (Kick 'em when they're up, Kick em when they'ree down etc) and to all the Political Commentators, and to all the Politicians and Lawyers in general.

All, as I say, except for Katie Couric, who is as cute as a button, and just can't help it.

I can do the bell ringing in the clawhammer style, but I prefer to do that in my bluegrass or 3 finger style (with the finger picks on) rendition of this song, which I can;t give away for free (although I have some parts of it Posted already,as in the Graduation Speech spoof from a few weeks ago)
