A poem by American Poet Edwin Arlington Robinson (1869-1935)
Notes to follow. But for now, here is the one take rendition. It came out a little dark, but maybe that works out OK since the Poem is Dark as well.
To me, the main message of the poem maybe is: "All is not always what it seems" or something like that.
And what an incredible and lovely Artist EAR was!
Anyway, it is just another thing of mine for my critics to rip apart I guess. I did miss a line or stanza or so, and of course I'm laying on the Long Island Joey Buttafuco accent a bit.
But I can reattempt this at another time and in better light.
BTW, the wall has a lot of little holes from darts that have missed the dartboard, so it needs a skimcoat and repaint anyway.
Richard Cory
Whenever Richard Cory went downtown,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperialy slim.
And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked:
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
"Good Morning," and he glittered when he walked.
And he was rich---yes, richer than a king,
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in hs place.
So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread:
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

* 6/21-- Anyway, true to my word, the AC stuff is all over now, and I have pulled a lot of it and will search and pull more. I realize AC has family and brothers and all, and really, I think that all my jabs have been pretty soft. And, who is to say if I have been serious about my crush or not? Only I know that.
I will also do another take or two of this EAR poem, maybe on the weekend. I'm into it lately.
Richard Cory is a Fucking Awesome Poem! Better than music!
Maybe?
Yeah Baby!
