Director Catherine Hardwicke has a knack for movies about troubled teenagers, but honestly, mixing her favorite topic with the fantasy genre yielded less than spectacular results (see the 2008

"Red Riding Hood" was no exception. Hardwicke tore the classic fairy tale to pieces and glossed it over with thick layers of teen soap-opera and muddled supernatural lore. Apparently, Harwicke's still stuck on
"Twilight" mode. Amanda Seyfried is talented enough to make her character shine through all of this mess, but even that's not enough to redeem the movie. However, on a positive note, if you really liked this movie, you'll be glad to know that the Blu-Ray edition has an impressive amount of Special Features.
