The casting process for
"The Hobbit" is moving forward, the latest additions to the cast being Evangeline Lilly (Kate from
"Lost") and Barry Humphries (Dame Edna from
"The Tonight Show with Jay Leno"). The news came via Peter Jackson's Facebook account. Lilly will be playing a new character that was not featured in Tolkien's novel. This is one of the major big screen projects for the Golden Globe nominated actress, the other being another supporting role in Disney's
"Real Steel" alongside Hugh Jackman this October. She has also appeared briefly in
"The Hurt Locker". Peter Jackson also announced they have completed filming some of the studio-set scenes and is now preparing to scout locations. He also reassures fans that more news will come. You can read the full official announcement after the jump.
