2012 - Predictions by "Dr. Dial-a-Quote"

Visit "Sabato's Crystal Ball" web site at http://www.centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/ to track his 2012 predictions.
Dr. Larry Sabato [jokingly referred to] as a "Dr. Dial-a-Quote" has been noted in political media circles and attributed to his easy quotability and ability to offer pronouncements on a wide variety of topics.  The Wall Street Journal refers to Sabato as "probably the most quoted college professor in the land" and some members of the news media have a rhyme referring to Sabato's availability for a quick quip on politics: [Wikipedia]
"Need a quote
 Do not tarry
 Call U-Va.
 And ask for Larry."

See Larry J. Sabato's, Director, U.Va. Center for Politics, baseline map as of April 21st, 2011 for the Electoral Vote, November 2012 at http://www.centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/articles/ljs2011042101/.

If you INCLUDE the “Leans” states with the “Likely” and “Safe,” the numbers are as follows:
247 Democratic EVs
180 Republican EVs
111 Undecided

If you DO NOT INCLUDE the “Leans” states, i.e., just counting “Likely” and “Safe,” the numbers are as follows:
196 Democratic EVs
170 Republican EVs
172 Undecided

With 270 needed for election, our Democratic readers will prefer the first tally, and our Republican readers the second. Indulge yourselves! As heated as the campaign will get, let’s remember to have fun along the way.
