I finished another excellent book.
Oh. Holy. Hell.
This one was good. It was called "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld. I decided to read it very reluctantly. Mainly because I try to only read books in the romance/chick lit genre. But I was instantly hooked on this book, and I am THRILLED to be starting book two tonight!!
Like, Seriously. I can't wait.
The plot to this story is just too complex to describe. Imagine America several hundred years in the future, and there are only planned societies left where people have mandatory plastic surgery at the age of 16 to look "pretty" and all alike.
This story follows a girl, who discovers a group of runaways (Uglies) who live in the wilderness because they don't want to be changed. She has to decide whether or not to betray the group and the boy she loves, or to stay with them in the wild forever.
I wish I had this writers mind. He is brilliant. I've read so much fantasy that people have written and it doesnt even come close to this level of complexity. They should all bow down. This book is damn good.
Go.
Buy it.
